Running at Work

Went for a run during lunch today.  Ran through Louisburg.  Nice change of pace, as work has been BUSY lately.  Lots of projects.  Job security, I guess!

Some Super Hiking

Super Bowl Sunday, so we did some Super outside time.  Went down to the Falls Lake Dam to explore and hike around.  Cold and windy. but had a fun time.  The new bridge, although IMHO not needed, is going to be nice.  Appears like they will have a wide sidewalk, possibly for fishing.  Then the Greenway will go under it.  Pretty nice!

My Life Long Dream...

Remember that game show back in the day where you picked up money?  Well, I never got to do that, but today at Myra's birthday, her and I got to go in the ticket booth.  It spit random one tickets, then a bunch of coupons for 50, 100, 200, and even 1000.  So how did we do?  Myra got the ONE THOUSAND ticket!  Awesome!

Fun at Marbles!

PapPap and Nana got a chance to see Marbles for the first time.  As you can see, he definitely enjoyed it!  I wonder if he let the girls have a turn or not!

It was Myra's birthday party today.  Had a FUN time!  Lots of friends, games, and even gluten free pizza now!

Good Present!

I can't say I ever recall any kid tackling another when presented with a birthday present.  Sure enough, yesterday, though, Myra loved the Tinkerbell kitchen Lucy got her, and here is the tackle to prove it.  Funny girls!

Sorry to Scare You...

But I was a runnin' today!  Got in a decent 12 miles of hills with the ice on the road/sidewalk for 6 of them.  Then it melted.  Gosh, if I look that terrible all the time, I apologize!

What To Do in an Ice Storm?

Sled ride of course.  We FINALLY got to really slide ride.  The driveway was a sheet of ice, so we pulled out the sleds--so much fun!!

My Skater Girls

So Myra received skates from Grammie and Grandpa for her birthday.  Lucy had leftover money, so we found skates for her as  well.  Now we have two skater girls!  (-:   Planning on going to the Dump today, I may even take my skates out!

Food tents.  Myra has always been a snacker.  For dinner, she will eat a bunch, but won't finish.  She will want to put a 'food tent' over it and come back. I guess she thinks the air will ruin it!

Foggy Run

A little bit foggy this morning, eh?  Went for a long run today, and faced this most of the run.  Felt like I was running through soup.  Pretty soaked, and it was tough, but for some reason, my first 4 miles were at a 9 minute pace.  Overall, kept the 12ish at a 10 minute pace.  Hmm...10 minute pace, 26.2 miles, 4:36 marathon? I'll take it!

Hockey!!

Got to see the Checkers play a game at the PNC Arena this weekend with Kerry, her dad, and Shannon.  Fun, and a Checkers win.  Definitely got me juiced up for NHL hockey to begin next weekend!

My Dancing Girls

Oh, my two girls are so funny.  Check out Lucy's shoes.  She wanted to wear them to dance tonight, and those bright pink socks.  (-:  They make me smile.  Girls are finishing up, practicing for their recital at the end of the month, then it looks like they want to try basketball and soccer, respectively.

Heading to the AHL game in Raleigh today between Charlotte and Norfolk.  Should be a fun time with Kerry's Dad, Shannon, and the love of my life.  Plus, the NHL Lockout is over!  Plus, the Seahawks play in the playoffs tonight.  Good day for sports.

So we turn to 2013 and the Pittsburgh Marathon approaches in May.  I have decided to abandon my regular training program for the ChiRunning method.  In a nutshell, you focus on a variety of other forms that helps lessen the load on your body, puts more on your 'core,' and just keeps you running with more energy.  Two runs in so far, and while difficult, I can see how this can work.  I have a long 2 hour run this morning.  We will see!

Last Day!

Last day of 2012!  A great year for us.  Got the new house, Myra started school, good times!  We will go to the Flanigans for a little while today, then dinner at Outback, and a movie.

Christmas in the 'Burgh

So we went to Pittsburgh on Thursday to see the Novaks.  So I had to take the opportunity to rub it in all those 'Stiller fans that my Seahawks are doing so well.  Nice jersey, eh?  Or n'at?

Kerry's Longtime Wish Fulfilled

Snow!

 First snow!  We headed up to PA on Christmas Day to avoid the pending storm.  We got there, and it started on the 26th, as we headed home from shopping in Indiana.  Girls had a bunch of fun out in it!

We Got Snow!

 Up in Pennsylvania and received about 8 inches of snow.  Cold and windy, but we still all went out to play in it.  Then Kerry got to FINALLY snowblow this evening!  Off to the 'Burgh tomorrow!

A Winter Show!

Lucy, Myra, and Maeve put on quite the show for us last night.  Variety of new music and some favorites.  Our little Rudolph (Myra) stole the show.  Very cute!

I always like the holidays.  We get out to a bunch of parks and hang out.  We went over to the new nature preserve off Ravens Ridge the other day. Fun time!

Helping Others

On Saturday Night, Lucy and I, along with our Y Princess tribe rang the Salvation Army bell at Harris Teeter.  It was a cold night, but we were very excited and talked about how we were helping others at this time.  Pretty neat!

So a nice, tasteful start to the lights at the new house.  Next year, I plan to put more in the trees, icicles in the peak above Myra's window, and some on our other tree.

Oh my gosh!  I had these all the time growing up.  We found them at Kroger, and of course, I had to pick them up.  Yum!

Santa!

Went to see Santa last week.  Girls did a nice job talking to him, and of course, they brought their Santa letters.  Lucy wants this ladybug that shines constellations on the ceiling.  Myra wants the Ariel doll with Prince Eric.  We will see if Santa delivers or not!

Ahhh...Christmas Time!

Yup, my favorite time.  Loving the newish house and decorating for the first time.  If I say so myself, I like the looks of the mantle, with the fire burning in it!

Happy Birthday, Wife!

My wife celebrated her birthday yesterday.  I celebrated her--without which, I would not know what to do.  A fun day and evening.  Went to Twisted Fork with the in-laws, then some yummy dessert I made with the girls.  Now only Christmas remains!

Myra is French!

So I have said it many, many times, how I wish we could document all the neat/cute things the girls say/do.  Like recently, Myra has gotten into the habit of kissing us on both cheeks.  Bob and Grandma would be disappointed she's not 'dutch,' but she must be French.  She is so funny!

Christmas Time Is Here!

So it turned December.  And we are ready, quite ready, for Christmas.  Having so much fun with the girls.  Music, movies, wrapping, shopping.  So much fun with kids!  And Nick, our Christmas Elf came back.
